Artfuly allows business owners to update art for free

Online art gallery, Artfuly offers a financially viable solution to business owners looking to inject new life into their venue.

By visiting the Artfuly website business owners can search for artworks by artist, keyword, colour, size or style, liaise with staff to include a selection of pieces in their venue and receive commission for doing so.

“Artfuly provides original artwork free of charge to food and drink venues,” director Rachael Page told Hospitality.

“We work on a commission basis, so when an artwork sells we take a percentage of the retail price, pay the artist and pass five percent on to the venue, regardless of whether it sells because it was seen in a venue or online. Artwork prices range from around $200 to $12,000, which equates to between $10 and $600 in commission for business owners.”

The relationship benefits both parties – business owners can update the art in their venue on a regular basis free of charge – the only cost they’ll incur is for installation of a professional hanging system, which costs around $150 and can be used again and again, meanwhile artists are able to display their work in a public place at minimal cost.

“When a customer wants to purchase an artwork hanging in a venue they can either Google Artfuly, the artwork name and the name of the artist, or scan the QR code located next to the artwork. From there they provide their address and credit card details to have the artwork delivered.

“The site takes the payment, ensuring staff are able to concentrate on serving customers,” Page adds.

The artist will hang their work in the venue, and once it’s been purchased via Artfuly they will similarly remove the artwork.

“They package and courier the artwork to the buyer and replace it with a new one. All business owners have to do is display the artworks in a safe environment alongside the art label and instructions on how to purchase via mobile phone,” she explains.

While it’s free for artists to list their work on the site, Page says they must first meet the company’s quality standards.

“The artworks are sourced from Australia’s best artists and we continually source new artists and art, both by seeking them out and by receiving applications from artists who contact us.”

Page says the system can benefit business owners in myriad ways:

· We’ll display the location of each artwork on the website, which will encourage art-lovers to visit participating venues

· It provides an additional income stream in return for very little effort

· It allows businesses owners who either don’t want to pay for, or don’t want be stuck with the same art forever to improve the look of their venue
